Who we are

The general contractor that came up through framing.

Most general contractors buy the structure from someone else. We are the someone else. Acosta Builders started as the framing crew other builders hired — running whole projects came after, and it came with the habit of getting the part nobody ever sees right.

Today we take ground-up builds, structural remodels, and additions directly for homeowners across Manatee and Sarasota counties, and we still frame for other contractors. Being hired by people who could do the work themselves is the reference that means the most to us.

What we do most

The three services we're known for

Seven trades under one license — but nearly every project starts in one of three places: building something new, reworking what is already standing, or framing the structure that carries it.

New Construction

We take ground-up projects from an empty lot to a finished, inspected building. One licensed contractor carries the whole thing — site work, foundation, framing, envelope, trade coordination, finishes — so there is no seam between phases where accountability quietly disappears.

Best fit for

  • Custom coastal homes on private lots
  • Commercial and multi-unit buildouts
  • Owners who want one contract, not six

Florida Certified General Contractor CGC1540129 — permitted and inspected end to end.

Remodeling

Most remodelers work around the structure. We open it. Pulling a bearing wall, resizing an opening, or re-framing a floor that has started to sag is routine work here — and that is the difference between changing how a house is laid out and just changing how it looks.

Best fit for

  • Opening up closed-off floor plans
  • Kitchen and bath reconfigurations
  • Structural repair and re-framing

Engineered, permitted, and documented — never done quietly behind drywall.

Framing

The trade we started in, and the one other contractors hire us for. Walls, floors, and roof systems set plumb and square, with the strap-and-clip schedule Manatee and Sarasota inspectors actually verify — on our own builds or as a scope we take for another builder.

Best fit for

  • Builders who need a framing crew
  • Ground-up and multi-unit structures
  • Re-framing and structural repair

Available as a framing subcontract — we arrive with a schedule and hit it.

How we work

What working with us actually looks like

The part most contractors leave vague: what you get in writing, what it costs you in disruption, and when we ask to be paid.

  1. 01

    Site visit

We walk the property and tell you what the job really involves — including when it is not worth doing. Free, no obligation.

  2. 02

    Line-item estimate

An itemised scope, not a lump sum. Anything priced as an allowance is labelled as one, so nothing becomes a surprise later.

  3. 03

    Permits & schedule

Permits pulled, plus a start date and sequence — which weeks are loud, which rooms are unusable, when inspectors come.

  4. 04

    Build & close-out

One point of contact throughout, and the punch list closed before we ask for final payment — not after.

Acosta Builders framed my new home on Longboat Key Florida. They did a great job framing the new home. They are on the job everyday working hard. The site was kept clean always. They always came back to do any required punch list. I've built over 1000 custom homes and I highly recommend them.

Good questions

Answers before you commit

The things Gulf Coast homeowners ask us most — about code, cost, permits, and storms.

01Are you a licensed and insured contractor in Florida?

Yes. Acosta Builders is a State of Florida Certified General Contractor (license CGC1540129) and carries full liability insurance. You can verify our license anytime through the Florida DBPR license lookup.

02Do you build to Florida hurricane and wind-load codes?

Always. Every structure we frame or remodel meets the current Florida Building Code, including wind-load and impact requirements for our coastal region. Building to code protects your home and your investment.

03Can you help with post-storm repairs and rebuilds?

Yes. We handle structural repairs, re-framing, and full rebuilds after storm damage. We coordinate with your insurance adjuster and bring older structures up to current code in the process.

04Do you work in flood zones and FEMA elevation requirements?

We regularly build and remodel in coastal flood zones and coordinate with engineers and local building departments to keep your project compliant with elevation and substantial-improvement rules.

05How much does a project cost, and are estimates free?

Estimates are always free and carry no obligation. Cost depends on scope, materials, and site conditions — we provide clear written estimates with no vague ballparks or surprise charges.

06Do you pull permits and handle inspections?

Yes. We assist with permitting and coordinate required inspections so your project is fully documented and code-compliant — which also protects your property value at resale.
